Online Class is Luxury or Necessary?

ZOOM is being considered as a trusted online virtual meeting platform at Dhaka University as well as other universities. Due to the pandemic disease COVID-19, all institutions were closed from 18th March 2020. "Providing Free Internet Package is a considerable matter in online class"-has said Professor Dr. Mohammad Alamgir, an honorable member of UGC (University Grant Commission). BUET started online classes at a very beginning moment. Due to students' problems, online classes were stopped. To overcome session lag, UGC wants to take advantage of technology. Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, the student advisor of BUET, stated that taking online classes will be beneficial for students. "Technical problem will be well-considered trouble in conducting online classes"-said Professor Latfur Rahman, Proctor of Rajshahi University. The network problem will be a great concern in this incident. He added that smartphones, laptops, etc will be needed to maintain online classes and general students of villages, students of the economical family will face difficulties to join and keep going through online classes. Private universities started online classes a long time ago. "Giving pass mark or result by ending semester is not the goal of universities"-said Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University(JnU). Professor Dr. Farzana Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, mentioned three basic problems that are the financial, academic, and mental condition of the students for assuring online classes.




"Online classes of students have been started"-said Professor Dr. Anwar Hossen, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Northern University. "Having no devices, slow internet, Price increases of internet data, etc difficulties exist in taking online classes"-said a part of students of Dhaka University. They have demanded to resolve these problems for ensuring online classes. Uploading recorded classes is a good proposal which has come from a student of Dhaka University. Students of Dhaka and its surrounding areas can take part in online classes, but joining in online classes will be a great challenge for students of village areas. As a result, students in village areas will lag. Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) spoke that all necessary arrangements were done to execute online classes. The varsity was providing financial aids for economical students. Already, BDT 3,000 had been expensed for needy students. They continued this facility for ensuring the welfare of financial-needy students. Special provisions would exist for online classes' lag behind students.




31 lakh students are enrolled for higher studies in varieties." 27% of them have smartphones and internet facilities"- UGC confirms. "Additionally, universities' classes will be held online from 1st July 2020"-UGC has announced recently. But, universities' exams will be held according to the previous rules and regulations. Prof Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman of UGC, has been stated that uniform rules and regulations are going to be created for all public and private universities and they will ensure all types of logistic support to assist the Education Ministry.
