The previous lecture was about BSCIC. Now we are going to know about the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR). It is situated in the Science Lab. It is established in 1955. It is under the Ministry of Science and Technology. It acts as a process developer for the SME sector. It designs processes for the SME sector. Its former name was East Regional Laboratories of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(PCSIR). Its founder was Muhammad Qudrat-i-Khuda.

BCSIR is the leading research organization in Bangladesh. It has 7 multidisciplinary institutes. After 1997, BCSIR has developed 937 processes and 396 processes are leased-out for entrepreneurs. 


Main objectives of BCSIR: 
a. Scientific research

c. Process lease-out for industrialization
d. Analytic service and quality control
e. Supervising  thesis students

b. Plant science
c. Tissue-culture
d. Medicine
e. Biogas
f. Leather industry
